MyFutureHawai‘i is designed to be a “one-stop shop” for students and families to explore career skills and interests, search for colleges, learn about financing options and track students’ courses and progress toward high school graduation.
One of the new features added to this platform was a section specifically geared towards middle school students. It provides a more “guided” approach for students to start exploring career interests and personality assessments. Middle school students who use the portal will be also be able to save their information and it will transfer to the high school platform when they enter ninth grade.
For the high school platform, in addition to the feature of students’ demographic and academic data being transferred to University of Hawai‘i application system, the portal also transfers the students’ Smarter Balanced scores. The UH Community Colleges use Smarter Balanced scores for course placement, so when students use MFH to apply, campuses are able to use scores to properly place students into the correct classes.
Currently 47 HIDOE schools (42 high, 4 middle, 1 elementary) statewide are using MFH to assist students in their college and career planning activities.
